November 15, 2017. Next Thursday and Friday, Nov 23rd and 24th are university holidays. The labs will be closed to all but unrestricted users on those days. Danielle, Justina and Joe will be in and out. Make appointments with them if you need their help.
July 24, 2017. Please use the reservation calendar no matter when you plan to use the instruments. I use it to track use in the calendar system. I’ve told a few of you and it continues to happen. This is not optional.
June 1, 2017. The Hitachi engineer replaced a suspect board in the FESEM and the system is working after running overnight. He wants us to use the microscope today while he is here at the lab in case the problem reoccurs. I have opened up the calendar so you can …
May 11, 2017. Electricians are installing fire alarm circuits in the 6th floor microscopy labs. I am having to cover the equipment when they are in a lab. I’m blocking out a lot of time on the calendars for this project and will release it when they are done.

February 21, 2014. The university closed at 2:00. We are closing the labs after the current users finish their work. All later appointments are cancelled. We will reopen Monday at 8:00.
June 6, 2013. The TEM is repaired and, after the gun vacuum improves overnight, should be ready for the first appointment (Yang). Note that one of the standard sample holders was bent somehow. I’ll send it in for repair. Be careful – repairs like this lead to higher use charges.
April 4, 2013. I was having vacuum problems with one of the coaters and started using the backup. The backup blew up this morning. So, we have no carbon coating capacity. I will reschedule appointments and work on the leak this afternoon.
