May 29, 2018. There is a problem with the focussing. I’m troubleshooting now.
May 24, 2018. The S-TEM is online again but work is backed up so there may not be free time until next week.
May 23, 2018. The FIB is down again with an unrelated problem. I’ll be speaking to the Hitachi people tomorrow morning.
May 16, 2018. The FIB is working! Secondary electron image is back. There was a discharge in the chamber that ruined the scintillator and burned out a circuit board. I will pick up the project I was working on when the instrument went down.
May 16, 2018. The S-TEM has been down with a vacuum leak. The service engineers have traced the problem to the goniometer. That part should be replaced next week. I’ll let you know when we are back online.
May 16, 2018. FESEM is back online and ready to use.
May 11, 2018. The ion pumps shut off last night and I can’t get them restarted. Hitachi is coming Monday and they can get it back on then. The scope will be down until the middle of next week. Sorry.
