Overview

Histology is the study of the cells and tissues of plants and animals, performed under a microscope. Microscopic anatomy may be contrasted with gross anatomy, involving structures observable by the naked eye. Histology is performed by examining a thin slice or section of tissue under an optical microscope or electron microscope.

This module covers mouse liver preparation as an example for observation under a scanning electron microscope or transmission electron microscope. Procedures may be applicable to other biological specimen types as well.
