Operating Procedures

Start Up

1. Make sure that the computer and microscope are turned completely off before beginning. Remove the blue cover on the instrument.    
2. Turn on the light source power box first. VIEW
3. Turn on the microscope. VIEW
4. Turn on the computer and monitor. Follow the log-in directions posted on the wall behind the monitor.    
5. Open the AxioVision software by double clicking the AxioVision Release 4.7 icon.    
6. Mount your sample on the stage.    
 6.1. Tilt back the top of the microscope carefully to allow sufficient space for maneuvering the specimen.    
 6.2. Make sure the proper stage plate is in place for holding your specimen. There are two stage plates: one for slides and dishes and another for plates. To insert the stage plate, align the red dot in the top right of the plate with the red dot on the top right of the stage base. Snap the plate into place, and gently pull upwards to make sure the plate is properly in place. Mount your sample in the stage plate. VIEW
 6.3. Tilt the top of the microscope carefully back into place.
